Hridaya Mudra

Updated: Dec 2, 2022

Mudras are hand gestures that direct the flow of energy. The Sanskrit word MUDRA means “seal” “gesture” “attitude” or “signature”. They evoke spiritual or psychological attitudes each with its own specific quality or “signature’, promoting physical health, psychological balance and spiritual awakening.

There are dozens of different mudras to adopt into your practice. Here is one that I have personally practiced with and benefited from:

Hridaya Mudra - seeking the support of the divine in challenging times; releasing tension from the chest; supporting the health of the immune system; cultivating trust and emotional balance.

HOW TO PRACTICE: Place your right palm on your heart, left palm over the top. Set an intention. Hold for 5-10 natural breaths. Repeat your intention three times out loud, then silently. Notice how you feel in body, mind, and emotions.

YOGA POSE: Try practicing Hridaya Mudra with Eagle Pose, High Lunge, or Mountain Pose

CHAKRA: This mudra helps to balance the energy of Anahata (Heart) Chakra. <3
